So... I got a new addition for my graphics card museum a week or so ago. I found this on eBay when I was searching for something else entirely.

Rage Fury MAXX

I haven't installed it in a system yet, so it may not work. Why not? Because I know it doesn't work at all with the r128 driver in Mesa. I might therefore be tempted to hack on that driver. That would be bad.

oh dear.
jesus. ajax was kind of sort of working on that at some stage, i think.

In 2006 my old Rage II+ used to work with the ati driver (before mach64 was split out) on a machine I juryrigged with spare parts when I couldn't use my primary desktop because of a bad DDR2 stick (I could've used a Radeon 7500 in its place, but that card had a noisy fan). I'm tempted to turn on that machine again and see how it behaves with a modern distro. I suppose there's no KMS for mach64 cards, however...

I have a dual Xeon 2.8 GHz server box with an integrated Rage card. In fact it's my primary desktop at work, and while drawing is quite slow, I'm stuck with it as the motherboard doesn't have AGP or a 16X PCI-e slot (btw. the distro is RHEL-based SLC 4). Maybe I should plug in a PCI radeon though. At least a laptop running current rawhide on i965 provides a much better experience.
